Magna International Inc. is a Canadian automotive supplier founded in 1957 and successfully operates now producing a wide range of automotive components and systems.

The name “Magna vehmo Torrero” doesn’t have a widely recognized meaning in English or any other language.

Magna: In Latin, this means “great” or “large.” Vehmo: This word does not have a direct translation but could be interpreted as related to “vehicle” or “to move. Torrero mean “bull”, and you can see in on emblem.

Code name: CMC-44 Prototype

In 1989, the prominent European automobile components manufacturer Magna International embarked on an ambitious venture to develop its own vehicle. This project aimed to create a luxury sports SUV and was assigned to Magna’s subsidiary, Vehma International.

Debuted in 1989 at the North American International Auto Show

At that time, most SUVs were primarily designed for rugged terrain rather than high-performance feats. However, a few trailblazers were emerging. Lamborghini had introduced the iconic LM002, powered by a V12 engine, while GMC was gearing up to launch the Typhoon, a fast SUV featuring a turbocharged 4.3-liter inline-six. Although the Typhoon was impressive, it paled in comparison to the formidable Magna-Vehma Torrero.

The Torrero stood out significantly from its peers, featuring a spatial steel power structure rather than the typical frame construction. Its striking design included composite body panels, an aerodynamic front end, coupe-like doors, wide wheel arches, and a rear section equipped with a spoiler, embodying a blend of aggression and futurism.Inside, the Torrero was equally impressive, showcasing luxurious leather upholstery alongside cutting-edge technology. This included satellite navigation, a personal computer, a color TV video player, a 12-speaker audio system, and swiveling front seats. And you could even plug-in 8-bit game station.

Thr Torrero more powerful than some of the era’s top supercars, including the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959.In practical terms, this all-wheel-drive SUV could achieve speeds exceeding 240 km/h, a remarkable feat for that era for such a heavy hitter.
